Give me my flowers while I stop and smell the roses
Walking through the garden for hours
and inhaling the sweet scent into the noses of poets left behind
How would death be defined without flowers scattered on graves
from fallen legends that pave the way for me to recite writings
and ignite riots in your inner mind to unite mindless bodies
from storming the capitol for capital
but you can’t take capital with you to the grave if the capital you made
went to the captain of the slave ships
I rather take the applause, cheers, smiles, and kind words from people
I never met before
My legacy is longevity of living in my truth and paying it forward
without being in debt or more
It’s nice to brag about price tags and things without value
I rather plant my seeds to grow
so the next generation will need to know how important the flowers are
As my soul departs from the body
and my heart begins to fail
I wish I could go back in time
to receive my flowers when I was alive and well.
