BronzeLens Film Festival gives people of color an opportunity to participate in a wide range of platforms for film and film production, including workshops, screenings, awards show, and more. Fulton County Arts and Culture are proud to present the BronzeLens Family Day 2018 on Saturday, August 25th from 12:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Adults and children are invited to attend this free event to learn about the animation industry and get a chance to speak to young talent in the show business. Parents are encouraged to check-in and register their kids for the event at 12:30 p.m. to view all the great programs that BronzeLens Family Day has to offer.
The event will kick off with a workshop for young people interested in getting into animation. ASIFA (Association Internationale du Film d’Animation) is presenting the ASIFA – South Animation Workshop at 1:00 p.m. The organization, which is known for promoting artist visibility and diversity in art, will be on hand to provide information and education on how to get started in animation. ASIFA will also teach STEAM education (Science/Technology/Education/Math+Art/Design) to young artist-entrepreneurs geared with a business mindset.
Young audiences can also enjoy a screening of “The Water Princess.” The story illustrates a young African princess named Gie Gie who dreams of having clean water in her small African village. Gie Gie develops these thoughts in her mind as she takes the long journey home while carrying a heavy pot of water on top of her head.
The Family Day event continues with a conversation on animation at 2:30 p.m. Animator Maya Penn of Mayas Ideas will talk to attendees about the importance of animation, her company, and what it takes to be a successful animator. Actress Priah Ferguson (Netflix’s Stranger Things) will also be present to talk about acting in the business. Attendees will get a chance to meet, greet, and learn from young, professional talent who are doing amazing work in the animation and film industry.
