Juneteenth is not only a holiday, but it is also a part of our African-American history. Juneteenth Atlanta Parade and Music Festival is kicking off on Friday, June 15th through Sunday, June 17th to commemorate the announcement that was made on this day in 1865 declaring the abolition of slavery in the U.S. state of Texas and throughout the southern parts of America. Bring your kids, family members, and friends to a 3-day weekend full of entertainment, activities, education, information, arts, and more!

The first portion of the festival on Friday from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. will include an entire day of various activities, which all of them are listed in the following:

  • Family Activities
  • Ongoing Performances
  • Father’s Day Celebration
  • Family Reunions,
  • Inspirational Speakers
  • Multicultural Food Cruisines
  • Genealogy Reviews
  • Martial Arts and Arenas
  • Book Signings
  • Voter Registrations
  • Health & Beauty Pop Ups
  • Fireworks
  • and More!

The event doesn’t stop there. On Saturday, June 16th at 12 p.m., the Juneteenth Atlanta Black History Parade of floats and marching bands will begin at Mosley Park and ends at Morris Brown College. This portion of the festival is the continuation of the Juneteenth Atlanta Music Festival, which will already be in progress.

During the parade ceremony, spectators can also catch a glimpse of band musicians performing in remembrance of the Martin Luther King assassination 50 years ago. Visitors are invited to become a part of the parade to share the memory of the iconic civil rights leader while watching the ceremony in the community where Dr. King grew up and went to school.

Last, but not least, Juneteenth Atlanta is bringing the Wakanda Afro-fashion show with an Afrocentric swimsuit segment. This portion of the festival will kick off on Sunday, June 17th.

Celebrity guests appearances and guest speakers will be on hand to talk to the participants in the world’s largest black history parade and unity festival.

African-American organizations and businesses are welcome to attend to offer services, goods, and resources to attendees during the festival.

Juneteenth Atlanta Parade and Music Festival will take place on the campus of Morris Brown College located at 643 M.L. King Jr. Drive N.W., Atlanta, Georgia 30314.
