Effective Monday, September 11, The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) will temporarily cancel all rail and bus service due to severe weather conditions caused by Hurricane Irma.
MARTA General Manager and C.E.O. Keith Parker stated the measures his team has made to keep everyday bus and rail passengers safe. “The projected impact of this approaching storm requires us to suspend all MARTA service for Monday. We will continue to coordinate with state and local officials and emergency personnel to determine our service schedule for Tuesday,” said Parker. “Safety remains our top priority for both our customers and employees.”
Other transit services, including Gwinnett County Transit and Cobb County Xpress, will also follow the same procedure as the storm approaches the greater metro Atlanta area. Gwinnett County Transit express service will not operate on Monday, Sept. 11, however, GCT local service will start its regular schedule until 1 pm. All bus services for Cobb County Xpress have been canceled and CobbLinc has changed several of its routes.
Paratransit is scheduled to cut off their service at 1 p.m. Passengers taking this service will only be limited to medical trips.
All bus and rail passengers are advised to contact their local transit agency for up-to-date information.
