Father’s Day is this Sunday, June 18th and many black fathers across the country will be spending time in jail during this special celebration. Pastor Christopher Waller and other activist groups, including the Don’t Count Me Out organization, are working together to bail out 25 fathers in time for Father’s Day. The initiative is called Father’s Day Bail Out Atlanta and they are looking for volunteers to help reconnect fathers with their families. The fathers, who have been bailed out of jail for minor offenses and misdemeanors, will participate in a reunification ceremony followed by a Father’s Day dinner. Afterward, mentors will be on site to help fathers in need for the next six months as part of the Empowerment/Survival retreat. Join Pastor Waller and many others for Father’s Day Bail Out Atlanta by becoming a volunteer or making a donation to support the cause. Business owners are welcome to provide sponsorship as well. The reunification ceremony for fathers released from jail will take place on Sunday, June 18th 23 at Jesse Hill Jr. Dr. S.E. Atlanta, Georgia 30303. For more information or if you have a father who needs a bailout, log onto fathersdaybailoutatl.org or call 678.262.6844.
